Taylor Swift teases new music video on SAME day ex John Mayer announces his tour

Taylor Swift stole her ex-boyfriend John Mayer’s thunder this morning as she teased the released of her highly-anticipated music video for her track, Lavender Haze.

On the same day the Paper Doll singer, 45, announced his first-ever solo acoustic tour, the pop star, 33, shared some exciting news with her 242 Instagram followers.

‘Meet me at midnight… …for the Lavender Haze music video premiere (!!!!!!!!!!!!!),’ she captioned a video of herself sitting on a bed as purple smoke filled the room.

While it may be coincidence that the Cardigan hitmaker dropped the news just five minutes after Mayer’s announcement, fans speculated Swift was relishing in her  ability to overshadow him with a click of a ʙuттon.

‘Sounds like she is living for the thrill of hitting him where it hurts,’ one Swiftie joked on TikTok, nodding to the musician’s haunting song, Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve, widely ᴀssumed to be about her short-lived relationship with Mayer in 2009.

Another quoted the 11-time Grammy winner’s song, Karma, as they quipped: ‘Karma’s a relaxing thought/ Aren’t you envious that for you it’s not?’

In a promotional image for the Lavender Haze music video, Swift can be seen closing her eyes as she leans her head back while surrounded by purple fog.

Later on Thursday, Taylor Nation’s Instagram account shared a video of the performer in a furry lavender jacket as she asked fans to meet her at midnight.

‘Midday reminder from the Mastermind that you should meet her at midnight for the #LavenderHazeMusicVideo premiere. Hit the bell on our story to be reminded!’ her  management team captioned the footage.

While she never confirmed the track was about him, the ex-boyfriend of Jessica Simpson told Rolling Stone in 2012 that he felt ‘really humiliated’ about the song.

‘I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do,’ he told the outlet.

12 years later, she seemingly nodded to their relationship in her song, Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve, while referencing a relationship she was in at 19.

The scathing lyrics call her partner, at the time, a ‘crisis’ of her faith and ‘regret.’

Referencing their large age gap, she asks: ‘If I was a child, did it matter/ If you got to wash your hands?’
